Mary Beth O'Connor

Board Member and Speaker's Bureau Chair

LifeRing Secular Recovery

PATHWAY:

LifeRing Recovery

LifeRing believes the right recovery pathway is the one that's right for you. And that everyone can achieve and maintain long-term sobriety by empowering her sober self.

Mary Beth briefly will review her substance use disorder history and how she built the individualized recovery plan that anchors her 29 years of sobriety. She will elaborate on LifeRing's 3-S philosophy (sobriety, secularity, and self-empowerment) and core ideas such as the addict self versus the sober self, building a personal recovery plan, and support for multiple recovery pathways.

Mary Beth will describe LifeRing's four books and do an exercise from the workbook with audience participation. She then will review LifeRing's meeting format and include audience input when providing examples of common meeting topics.
