Celebrate Recovery - An Important Pathway at the ROC
Established in 1991 Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered, 12 step recovery program for anyone struggling with hurt, pain or addiction of any kind.
There are now 35,000 Celebrate Recovery churches around the world, and that number continues to grow.
Research shows that Faith and Spiritually can have a positive impact toward the overall growth of a person mental well-being.
In the past decade or so, researchers across a range of disciplines have started to explore and acknowledge the positive contribution spirituality can make to mental health. In addition, Celebrate Recovery is not just growing in churches, but in recovery houses, rescue missions, universities, and prisons around the world.
Come learn firsthand how the ROC has implemented this resource in our organization as a viable pathway of recovery.
Doug was born and raised in Oregon and is a true native of God’s Country. He graduated in 1978 and went on to discover his passion for serving God and for over 30 years of his life he has served in the ministry in Oregon, Iowa, Ohio and California. It has provided him with experience in a wide range of duties that include child and adolescent development, children’s church ministries, youth pastor, outreach programs, community organizing, evangelism, summer camp administration, and adult and family counseling.
While ministering in this capacity Doug found himself battling Alcoholism. This was a constant struggle and for over 14 years he kept his addiction a secret, not only from his immediate family but also the church. The struggle of wanting to quit and yet the continual shame of relapse directed him to AA & Celebrate Recovery. Says Doug: “It is my own desire to take this freedom to others so that they too can experience a new hope.”
As of December of 2018, Doug along with a group of amazing volunteers opened the ROC Recovery Center, a faith-based peer mentoring drug and alcohol treatment and prevention agency. It is at the ROC where men, women and youth can find HOPE over their addictive behaviors. Our Mission at the ROC is too empower, inspire, and provide restoration to the brokenhearted as they overcome addiction, rebuild lives, and restore families through God’s love.
Psalms 78:35 “And their they will remember that God is their ROCK, and they will be restored.”
