PATHWAY:

PRESENTATION:

Empower Your Sober Self with LifeRing Secular Recovery

Empowering your sober self can make all the difference in achieving and maintaining long-term recovery. LifeRing Secular Recovery helps individuals to understand they are not powerless toward their substance use and encourages creating a personal recovery plan for themselves that fits their interests and lifestyle. Our 3-S philosophy is Sobriety, Secularity, and Self -Help.

Out of respect for people of all faiths or none, LifeRing meetings are held in a secular way. That simply means without the use of religion as a basis. LifeRing Secular Recovery is not prescriptive, we embrace everyone's chosen pathway and commitment to their recovery. LifeRing believes that the right recovery pathway is the one that's right for you!

BIOGRAPHY:

Lorraine has been a board member for LifeRing Secular Recovery for five years now. During her first year, she led the training and development committee to host the 2018 annual conference in Denver, Colorado where she lives. At that event, she was asked to be the board chair which she agreed to for three years. This year she is the board secretary. Lorraine also serves on the Colorado Behavioral Health Planning and Advisory Council. This group works to help determine how and where state funds are allocated for SUD and mental health services. Professionally, she is an HR consultant having held several human resources management positions including Regional Vice President of HR. Her Master's degree in Organizational Performance and Change from Colorado State University helps out in all situations. June 17 of this year will be the 8th anniversary of Lorraine's last drink which led to a DUI (even though she wasn't driving at the time). More importantly, thats when she realized that she needed to find a recovery community where she could create a long-term, personal sobriety plan and actually follow it. Lorraine credits and thanks LifeRing Secular Recovery for that! She loves connecting with participants in the two weekly online "How Was Your Week" meetings that she convenes.
