SESSION TITLE:

The Recovery Ready Community Index: A Public Health Assessment Tool

P Valentine.jpg

SESSION DESCRIPTION:

The Public Science Collaborative (PSC) created the Recovery Ready Community Index (RRCI), a first-of-its-kind measurement tool assessing a community’s readiness to serve the needs of its recovery community. The index evaluates the existing recovery resources in a city or town by measuring the breadth of services, the depth of recovery, the size of the recovery culture, and the overall strength and vibrancy of recovery in a community. Join us to learn about the future of the RRCI!

BIOGRAPHY:

Dr. Dorius’ research focuses on translating scholarship into practice through a broad range of state and national collaborations centered on data quality, community outreach, and evidence-based policy-making. Dorius is a founding co-director of the Public Science Collaborative, Iowa’s Integrated Data System for Decision Making, and Iowa State’s Data Science for the Public Good program. Across these efforts, she works with local, state, and federal leaders to advance policies that improve the lives of vulnerable children and their families. Dr. Dorius and her team created the ‘Recovery Iowa’ website to link people in recovery to the resources they need, and she also provides training and technical assistance to the four RCCs in Iowa.
